Peer Leadership in Preschool-Based Parent Health Education: Implementation Strategies and Preliminary Results.
Parents Connect for Healthy Living (PConnect) is a 10-session health and empowerment course for Head Start parents that is part of a larger childhood obesity prevention program called Communities for Healthy Living. An innovative feature of PConnect is that it is led by a Head Start parent and a Head Start staff member who work together as co-facilitators. In this presentation, I will describe the strategies we have used to implement this co-facilitation model and summarize some preliminary findings on the impact of this model on the parent facilitators of PConnect and parent participants in PConnect.
